Gun violence can be stopped

In a world where gun violence and ownership is at an all-time high is it really keeping American’s safe or killing them faster. Statistics say 40% of all guns bought are from illegal dealers so pretty much anyone these days can get a gun without a background check. I believe gun violence should be stopped and people should not be able to buy guns. In a society where there are 88.8 guns per one hundred people guns are over taking America putting the American people in danger everyday they decide to just go to the store.
Many people don't agree with my view point such as in 2011 the governor passed a law that made it ok for people to carry concealed weapons. He is gun friendly and supports it. Mitt Romney is another person who has a different point of view he believes the amendment should be upheld and not changed at all so guns can be bought freely. Even 84% of American’s don't agree with my point of view. So i am extremely outnumbered in the amount of people who believe in guns being legal.
I believe guns should be out lawed and only law enforcement should carry weapons. There are 87 gun deaths a day, which could be prevented if only law enforcement had guns. There have been so many shootings in the last 12 years that could have been avoided if people weren’t allowed to possess guns. I believe in Barack Obama because even though he thinks the amendment should be upheld he still wants assault weapons to be out lawed which would prevent murders and accidents significantly. A solution to gun violence would be not having them at all but since that probably won’t happen for a while I suggest an extensive background check and people should meet with a psychologist so they can measure if there sane enough to own a gun and also people who have a family history of behavioral disorders such as bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. should not get guns.

  1. Shelby,

Good post. I like the statistics that you incorporated into your paragraphs. They strengthen your case and make your post more powerful.

    Good work.

I would try to strengthen the opposing viewpoint paragraph a little. For instance, you mention a "governor", but do not mention their name or which state. Be specific at all times.

I like pictures that you chose, and I think you wrote a very compelling post.
