Super PAC'S destroying democracy?

As America's gotten older it seems our sense of togetherness and freedom of speech has been disrupted by Super PAC'S, citizens united and corporate speech. Are we really a democracy any more or just a dictatorship run by big buisness and corporations. As we all know America is in an economic disaster yet orporations are spening billions of dollars on bashing and supporting canidates in the election. Where's all the money coming from. Maybe i can explain in to you a little better but first ponder this question. Are super PAC's destroying democracy?

Some people support coorprate free speech saying its there first ammendement right. Some reasons they give are that super PAC's help level the playing field as in the money being used give some canidates who never had a chance at winning now have a chance because of the unlimited amount of money that super PAC's can use to support that canidate. They also beleieve they inform voters with the truth about canidates and what they are cabiable of and how bad the other canidates are "main function is one at the heart of democracy: Spreading information and arguments that voters may find useful in casting their votes." There last and final point is that super PAC's remind us how corrupt the system really is, saying that it shows us how the rich have power in a sense since there money is what funds the campaigns.
There is another opinion on these super PAC's though, some people are against them saying that super PAC's make it about the rich not about the people of america anymore. The super PAC's have the  power to sway a whole state one way and to vote for who they want you to. Billions of dollars are going into this election year put yet the real issues such as healthcare, job safety and unemployment are not being resolved. They say super PAC's don't care about the people they care about making money and making sure the person who they are going to support believes in what they believe in.

I personally believe super PAC's are ruining America if they really want to spend money they should spend in on fixing our roads and schools. Super PAC's are trying to sway America one way and many Americans don't see it. There are so many other issues in America right now that all that money could have been put towards something more useful like a homeless shelter or feeding family or even healthcare for the American people. Super PAC's are wasting America's money and something has to be done. America is no longer a democracy.

Politics? Where do you stand

For our action interview I interviewed my boyfriend's mom, Cecilia. When she was growing times were not  easy she had to get  food stamps and  welfare because she became a mom early and was not yet finacially stable. So these personal experiences shaped her political identity of being liberal voting strictly for the democratic party. She wants the right to choose and she believes the democratic party enables you to do so. The democratic party believes in welfare and helping people who are in need and without them she said she wouldn't be where she is today.
As stated in the prior paragraph Cecilia is Liberal, she believes what the democratic party believes in regarding pro-choice,welfare and that the democratic party is for the people. In the future she hopes for the unemployment rate to go down, healthcare to be available to everyone and also new jobs to be created. The most important issue in America she wants to see change is the economic deficite and she believes fully that the democratic party will bring us back up.
Personally i have never been interested in politics,i've never voted or kept up on issues in America but I do know whats happening. After reading the articles assigned I now know my political stance I consider myself to be independent because i believe in some things on both sides. But also i lean more towards Liberal. The personal experiences that helped me make the decsion is the fact that i am in DCF and have been my whole life and Liberals want to help people with welfare and state funding ti make sure foster kids are in good hands. They're for the people. But also i believe in pro-choice,because a women should have the right to choose but i do not believe in partial abortion, Partial abortion is wrong when the fetus has a heart beat it is a real human being. I agree with the conservatives that doctor assisted suicide is completly wrong and should never ever be approved life is so precious and you can't abuse that. My thoughts on doctor assisted suicide come from a personal experience where i was extremely depressed. But with help from pain meds and family a person with a serious illness will make it through till the end. God chooses when your life should end not you. I am looking for a leader that is for the people, someone who wants the war to end not continue it too many people have lost there lives in a war that is far to long and a person who wants what is best for America not themselves. So i will be voting this year for Obama.
I have learned from this experience that people vote based on how they were raised and what there values are. So a person who grew up on welfare and help from the state is most likely to vote for the democratic party. Well a person who grew up in a religious family who were well off are more likely to vote for the republican party. Voters vote based on what the canidates believe in and if they agree with them. People to me vote selfishly, they don't vote based on what is best for America but what is best for them and how that certain canidate will benefit there lives.

Questions asked:
How did you vote in the last election? Why?
Do you consider yourself liberal, conservative or independent? Why?
What life experiences have shaped your political values?
What issues are most important to you when it comes to US policy?
Who will you most likely vote for in your future? Are you happy with your party?
What values in a canidate do you most value?
What do you want to see change in America?
Have you ever switched parties?
Do you disagree with anything the democratic party believes in?
Do you believe Obama has made change in America?

Where it all began

Hey everyone my names Shelby Antonucci and i'm going to tell you a little bit about myself. So come on lets go on a journey. I'm originally from Framingham,ma about an hour away from Boston.

About a year and half ago i moved out here to relocate although i had no choice but anyways, this move was really needed theres so many oppurtunties for success out here. My original plan was not to go to BHCC i was accepted into UMASS Boston. Although i really wanted to go there they wanted me to do the summer program, I have my own apartment and i needed to work to pay the bills so i had no choice. BHCC is a great school but i just didn't think it was the school for me. Until i realized they offered a lot of the same classes as UMASS,so i figured it's not that bad i'll be ok.

My goal is to get into the nursing program to start my career. Nursing is the first step in my lifetime goals. Once i have established a job as a nurse i want to go to BU and do pre med my ultimate goal is to become an adult trauma surgeon. A lot of people in my life have said i can't do it and i'll never be successful, but i never believed a single word they said because i know i can do it i'm already taking the first steps and nobody can stop me.
I've wanted to be a surgeon ever since i had major surgery almost two years ago. I want to help people and make sure there safe well also being well cared for. My surgery really opened my eyes to the possibilities and how these doctors really do care and want whats best for each patient they see. Dr.Weldon was my surgeon and also my motivation to want to get into surgery. He always had huge bags under his eyes and always had a cup of coffee in his hand but he never once complained he was tired and always showed up to check on me everyday after my surgery. He cared.
